Wednesday’s rapid fire: Shopify, Reddit, Uber, Arista Networks and Dutch Bros
Yeah. Well, let’s talk about Shopify. In the rapid fire today, stocks getting crushed, it says gross margins and Q2 are going to be down a little bit. Maybe the revenue guide, there’s some nitpicking against as well. You know, there’s people who are lumping this in. And if I had one more time, I later said one more time, I said, is this Etsy and not Amazon? And I think you could argue that it is Etsy being a code for is it the smaller business guys not doing as much business. Now this company is has traditionally beat and raised it raised to a less extent now Harley, obviously Harley Finkelstein was quite agreed because of this quarter was brilliant again. Now here you have this one is at 62. The people who are selling it, they’re afraid it goes to 60, it will not go to 58. So do you buy Shopify? Well, I would tell you, buy Amazon, why do I have to mess with damaged goods that are Shopify now? Would this do? I think Shopify is going to be up over a year. People don’t have the kind of patience to do that. They don’t have a year. So that’s my Discourse. Shopify, Reddit, they good first quarter. You buy Reddit right here. And the reason why you buy Reddit is because there’s a shortage of places to be able to put advertising. If you look at the amount of advertising that’s coming from linear, linear is being cut in half. OK, now there’s $300 billion. That is therefore up for grabs. That’s a lot of money to be up for gorgeous digital. So it’s going to be. It’s going to go to Amazon. It’s going to go to Google, which is principally YouTube, but also search. OK. It’s going to go to meta because Instagram’s doing great. 170 billion there and it’s going to go to Reddit because Reddit is getting more pages. It’s also cleaned up using machine learning. The there’s no longer a lot of scatological pages. So Reddit is going to be a land grab winner. And I was going to come to you and say that we have to put Reddit in the bullpen now. A lot of people worried that the next quarter is going to be a little bit down. A lot of people worried about the loss. The loss was all stock based compensation and that was good. And I went back and forth with him to do this. I said you got to give money, you got to put stock to the Redditors. It’s not fair. I mean this is a little literal discussion I have with him because my daughter who didn’t get any, is on Reddit constantly and is constantly minding it and it’s like enough already, you know, I mean give these people money and some money gave them stock, which was good, they’re going to put it away. So that’s stock based compensation that I like Uber falling after a gross bookings miss. And for estimates, second quarter inexplicitance was a lot of light, too inexplicable. I was surprised. This is one of those things. What could be a brown shoot? I would have thought this should have been up. Lyft has not taken enough to be able to make me think that that’s it’s a Lyft versus Uber. This is one that I have to do a deeper drive on, frankly, because it didn’t make sense to me. A strong area of the economy still has AI spending. Saw that in the rest of the networks versus InfiniBand. This is a Ethernet. This is just inner plumbing of a data center. OK, not the virtue of kind of inner plumbing and not and not the, I don’t know, Emerson was down today. So this is to get the GPU’s to the GPS to each other right? And GPU to talk to the CPU. By the way, the CPU just so we know is not Intel. OK, it’s ARM. ARM reports tomorrow. I think ARM is going to be good. I think Intel is doomed. And I want to emphasize that again and again to not being in either either. They’re not going to be in any cell phone and they’re not going to be in the data center with if. If Nvidia’s in, how about Dutch Bros better than expected Q1, same store sales up 10%, looking for 4% growth. OK, Dutch Bros is doing what exactly the opposite of what Starbucks is doing. They’ve got really fabulous throughput, really putting people right through. They are expanding nationally. They can put up 1000 more without a problem. They even have an exit lane that they didn’t used to have when I would go there because a lot of times, but you’d be trapped after you got your coffee. Now you have exit lane to get right off. So the throughput is terrific. The people are great. What can I say? I think that stock could double. I’m not kidding. I think it could double and the insiders are done selling because there’s not anymore.
