Tony Romo blasts Chiefs wide receivers over latest blunder

Tony Romo said what a handful of Kansas City Chiefs fans were probably thinking Sunday during the team’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. Romo ripped into the Chiefs’ wide receiver corps for costing their team late yet again.
The Bills beat the Chiefs in a 20-17 nail-biter at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.
The Chiefs had one final drive to try and mount a comeback with under two minutes left in the contest. They were facing 2nd-and-10 near midfield while trailing by just a field goal.
Chiefs wideout Kadarius Toney appeared to score an epic go-ahead touchdown on the play that included a lateral pass from Travis Kelce (video here). However, the highlight sequence was erased by a penalty flag because Toney was egregiously lined up offsides.
Romo sounded like a frustrated Chiefs fan on the CBS broadcast after the officials wiped away the TD.
“You’ve got to be kidding me! That just can’t happen. These receivers can’t get out of the way of hurting the team too many times at the end of the game,” said Romo.
Add Toney’s blunder to the growing list of transgressions committed by Kansas City’s wide receiver room this season. Toney memorably had more drops than catches in the Chiefs’ Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions.
Receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling also botched what appeared to be a surefire Chiefs touchdown late against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11.
The Chiefs already came into Sunday’s contest with the NFL lead in drops. Toney’s error sadly reminded fans that drops aren’t the only way KC’s receivers can hurt the team.
