The 2024 NBA Draft is in the books and the Miami Heat added a couple of players to their ranks on the occasion. After selecting Indiana center Kel’el Ware with the 15th overall pick yesterday, they traded back to get Arizona wing Pelle Larsson with the No. 44 pick.
The decision to draft Ware has certainly divided the opinions of fans and the media alike. On one hand, there is no question about his talent and potential.
If the Heat are able to get the best out of him, the 20-year-old could prove to be an excellent addition as backup to Bam Adebayo. That being said, question marks are there surrounding Ware's physicality and work ethic. How will that fit work in South Beach?
As for Larsson, his strength is his shooting. Let's see how that translates to the league. He is also considered a capable passer and finisher as well. The upside is high though and if things work out, it could look like a masterstroke in hindsight.
The Heat have been busy after the conclusion of the draft as well, agreeing deals with a trio of players.
According to Shams Charania, undrafted Keshad Johnson has agreed to a two-way NBA deal with the Heat.
According to Jake Fischer, undrafted Florida guard Zyon Pullin is signing a two-way contract with the Heat.
And according to Michael Scotto, the Heat have agreed to an Exhibit-10 deal with Bryson Warren, who played for Sioux Falls in the G League last season.
Johnson averaged 11.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.7 blocks per game in the 2023-24 season.
On the other hand, Pullin averaged 15.5 points, 4.9 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 0.9 steals with the Gators. Interestingly, he shot better from beyond the arc (44.9%) than from the field (44.4%).
Meanwhile, Warren averaged 7.8 points, 1.9 assists, 1.6 rebounds and 0.8 steals for Sioux Falls.
