If you are wondering what the 2024 lineup of iPhones might look like, then you are in for a surprise. According to the early renders of the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max by MacRumors, the upcoming iPhones might look just like their predecessors.
These renders, created by MacRumors using internal design mockups, are still in the prototype stage. However, the report suggests that the final version will not be much different from the current renders.
The iPhone 16 Pro, internally known as Diablo, and the iPhone 16 Pro code-named Lightning, despite maintaining a similar form factor will include large 6.3-inch, and 6.9-inch displays, respectively. This means these devices will be significantly larger than their predecessors and the increased form factor also means, these phones are likely to pack bigger batteries.

One reason for Apple to increase the screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro is to make space for the 5x telephoto lens with tetraprism technology. The iPhone 16 Pro series is also confirmed to retain an action button and regular power and side button. It is also reported that even the iPhone 16 Pro series will miss out on the solid stead buttons, and will continue to offer regular clickable buttons.
An earlier leak by Instant Digital on Weibo claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro series might get an improved action button, which will be more flush with the body, which was developed under the Atlas project. However, the latest reports indicate that the company has cancelled that project and has continued to use the clickable action button.
Interestingly, the iPhone 16 Pro series might introduce a brand new Capture button, developed under the code name Nova. This capacitive button will be placed at the 5G mmWave antenna band position, and the antenna band itself will be moved to the other side in markets like the US, and this might double as a dedicated camera button.

As per the choice of materials, the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be made out of Titanium, just like the iPhone 15 Pro series using the identical Grade 5 Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V), and the look and finish of the iPhone 16 Pro series will be similar to the iPhone 15 Pro series with slightly curved edges. Like every year, Apple will introduce new colourways to help distinguish it from the previous generation model.
While these mockups are based on the early prototypes of the iPhone 16 Pro series, Apple might make some changes to the overall design and is expected to lock in the design in the next few months.
As per the hardware, the iPhone 16 Pro series will continue to offer a 120Hz display with a pill-shaped cutout, and these devices are also expected to offer the same high-speed USB-C port. In terms of hardware, the iPhone 16 Pro are likely to be powered by the A18 Pro chip with enhanced CPU and GPU performance.
