Man killed in accident on Penang Bridge
GEORGE TOWN: A retired policeman’s son was killed in an accident when his car went out of control and hit the divider on the Penang Bridge.
Mohammad Fazri Mohd Rosli, 28, was killed on the spot and trapped in the front seat of his car at KM3.2 on the bridge heading towards Prai.
The Fire and Rescue Department received a call at 12.20am on Tuesday (March 5) and eight firemen from the Prai station rushed to the scene.
“The operations commander directed the personnel who had special rescue tools to extricate the victim, who was trapped,” the department said in a statement.
It said the victim was brought out at 12.44am and was confirmed to have died at the scene by Health Department officials.
“The case was handed over to police and the operation ended at 1.21am,” added the statement.
It is believed that Mohammad Fazri’s father just retired after serving for 30 years at the Balik Pulau police headquarters.
