Bayern Munich are expected make another offer for Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier... after Magpies rejected loan and transfer approaches for England full-back

Bayern Munich are expected to have another go at tempting Newcastle United to sell Kieran Trippier before the week is out.

Newcastle have rejected a loan and a lowball offer from Bayern who are juggling right-back targets with Paris St Germain’s Nordi Mukiele.

Mail Sport understands that Trippier is open to linking up again with former Tottenham team-mates Eric Dier and Harry Kane but the price would have to be right.

Sources say Trippier is not trying to ‘force’ an exit and is very happy playing under Eddie Howe and has loved his time at the club.

However, it was revealed on Saturday, Trippier returned from a break in New York and hopes to seal his move to Bayern Munich.

The German club are aware that Newcastle are at their financial fair play limit and are seeking to take advantage.

Speaking earlier this month, Tuchel – who wanted to sign Kyle Walker from Man City in the summer – confirmed his side are hoping to strengthen in Trippier’s position.

‘We are looking for a right-back who is strong in duels,’ he said. ‘We’ll see if something is possible.

‘Nous Mazraoui is at the Africa Cup, but we have also gotten used to Konrad Laimer at right back, even though it’s not his best position.

‘If there’s an opportunity on the market, we’ll take it. Otherwise things will stay this way.’

Meanwhile, Newcastle have checked on Borussia Monchengladbach’s Joe Scally, the 21-year-old USA right-back, but their priority is to strengthen their midfield if cash comes in.

Bournemouth’s Philip Billing remains a player of interest for Eddie Howe as he has the physical attributes to replace Joelinton who undergoes groin surgery in Barcelona tomorrow.

Everton’s Amadou Onana is on the list too but would be considerably more expensive.

A sidenote to players going to Germany at the moment is that while basic salaries are not always as rich as those on offer for Premier League sides, many Bundesliga clubs pay a bonus of £6,000 to even £18,000 a point – so it pays to play for a successful side.
