Rio Ferdinand hit back at discontent around David Moyes among West Ham fansFormer Hammers star claimed a 'small, loud' portion of fans are against Moyes Football is changing... managers can't rely on their reputation. Just look at the Golden Generation - It's All Kicking Off
Rio Ferdinand has warned West Ham fans to ‘be careful what you wish for’ amidst discontent surrounding David Moyes.
In his second spell at the club Moyes has led the Irons to successive top seven finishes in the Premier League followed by a first European trophy in 58 years with victory in the Europa Conference League.
But despite his successes there remains doubters among the Hammers fanbase, with many pointing to the club’s domestic strugglers last season that saw them narrowly avoid becoming enveloped in a battle for Premier League survival.
Despite losing Declan Rice this summer, the Hammers have utilised the club-record £105million fee to make a series of new additions and have adapted well to the loss of their talisman whilst qualify for the last 16 of the Europa League.
Speaking on the club’s current situation the Irons academy graduate implored fans to have a sense of perspective regarding the club’s current situation.

‘I can’t believe it I need to speak to the fans. What are you really expecting, what are you asking for from David Moyes?’ Ferdinand said on TNT Sports ahead of West Ham’s clash against Sheffield United.
‘I’ve seen disgruntled people not happy with David Moyes and asking if he should be changed.
‘When you look at they won a European competition last year, they’ve spent the £100m from Declan Rice exquisitely well, fantastically well they’re all playing in the team and doing well and they’re sixth in the league.
‘You have to be realistic sometimes. I just think it’s disrespectful even to be asking about David Moyes now because I think he’s done a fabulous job here and i think you can’t ask to have it all, you have to understand where West Ham are as a football club.’

‘To question [Moyes] is ridiculous considering where West Ham have been at times.
‘They’ve been in the Championship, they’ve been languishing sometimes in the Premier League, but they’re in a really healthy state at the moment and I think you’ve got to sit back at some point and say be careful what you wish for.’
Though Ferdinand acknowledged most West Ham fans are pleased with the club’s current trajectory, he added that a vocal minority of supporters have made their opinions known.
West Ham have twice inside the Premier League’s top 7 under the former Everton boss, and have reached the Europa League last 16 this season
‘It’s a small, loud portion.’ He added.
‘I think what goes against David Moyes is that he isn’t a swashbuckling character, he is quite reserved sometimes and he does downplay himself and his achievements and doesn’t play to the media and that might go against him.’
Ferdinand made 158 appearances for the club in all competitions between 1996 and 2000 before breaking the British transfer record and becoming the most expensive defender in history to that point when he joined Leeds in a £18m move.
