2024 Copa América, Matchday 3: Match thread and discussion
Copa America continues with Day 3 of action, as Group B hits the pitch for the first time. In the first match, Ecuador will face Venezuela, while Mexico will take on Jamaica in the second game.
Ecuador is hoping to get off to a good start in the group stage, as they hope to put pressure on Mexico early. La Tricolor is a solid team that has made it out of the group stage in 2 of the last 3 editions of the tournament, and they’re hoping to do so once again to see if they can take their game to the next level. La Vinotinto stands in their way, hoping to get a shock result and give themselves a chance to do something in the group.
In the second match, Mexico wants to show it has learned from its warmup tour, where it lost badly to Uruguay and lost again to Brazil. They want to be viewed as one of the favorites, but they need to first play well. They square off against Jamaica, who has its full squad and hopefully has the federation squabbles set aside for this tournament. They have the talent to win, and a victory over Mexico would send a loud statement to the rest of the field.
