Report: Borussia Dortmund to Sign Serhou Guirassy
Borussia Dortmund’s quest to sign the entire VfB Stuttgart squad is progressing nicely. Fabrizio Romano reports that BVB have agreed terms with Die Roten’s star striker, Serhou Guirassy, and will now trigger his release clause. The deal is not yet official, but it has been given the Romano stamp of approval, which is generally a good sign that the club will soon confirm it.
Guirassy’s €17.5m release clause is incredibly low for a player of his quality, so in isolation, this move seems a bit of a no-brainer for Borussia Dortmund. The French-born Guinean international notched 28 goals and three assists, averaging 1.1 npG + A/90, to help fire Stuttgart to an unlikely 2nd place in the Bundesliga ahead of Bayern Munich this season. At 28 years old, Guirassy should hopefully be able to put up similar numbers in a BVB jersey for at least a couple of seasons. If you are given the opportunity to add a player like that for less than €20m, you should go ahead and do it. It looks like that is precisely what Borussia Dortmund have done! Welcome to Dortmund, Serhou!
