Tesla's Car Alarm System is STILL Useless!!
All right, so three months ago we did a video testing out Tesla's alarm system. And we did a range of things including shaking the door handles, checking the car as much as possible, and climbing on top of the car in a provocative manner. And none of those things actually made the alarm trigger. And the only time we got the alarm to trigger in that video was when Becky covered the rear camera with her hand. So we're going to be testing the car three months later to see have they changed anything? But after the video went live, it was pointed out to us that the alarm system doesn't actually kind of turn on until the car's been locked for 60 seconds. So that is our mistake. A lot of our tests did go on after 60 seconds though, and the alarm still didn't trigger. So basically this is an opportunity to give the Tesla alarm system a second chance. So I've deleted the app from my phone. My phone no longer works as a key, and I have to use this card to lock it. And what I'm going to do is I'm going to put this card far, far away. I'll grab my wallet as well and Becky's phone because she's got the Tesla app. And we're going to go plunk those things far away from the car so that they don't mess with anything. But then there, hopefully, we'll forget about them. OK, the car's locked. It's been probably about, I don't know, 15 seconds or something. So let's wait until it's been a full 60 seconds and then we'll start some alarm tests. All right, we gave it 2 minutes just to be sure. So what I've done is there's actually a big Tesla Easter egg that you might not know about, where not only does the alarm go off, but it also plays scary music on full blast. So to make use of that, the car window is open. But if you come over here, you can see that because I've stood here without a key or anything in my hand, Tesla Sentry Cam has activated. So that just means that I'm being filmed by all of these side cameras. So first thing we're going to do, right, that's not immediately set the alarm off, that's just trying to open the door. And also just in case having the windows open causes any kind of changes to the way the alarm works, we will try with the windows closed as well. So if we head over to the front, one of the other features of Centricam is that the lights do actually flash as well as the little camera that pops up on the screen. Anyway, we've not currently triggered the alarm just by moving these door handles and trying to get into them. So now I'm going to try and shake the car a little bit and see if that triggers the alarm. So we're still not getting anything. And I mean I'm I'm shaking it fairly substantially and the alarms not triggered. Let's try just banging on a window. Still not triggered the alarm. So let's do what we did in the last video, which was just cover up one of the cameras. So I'm going to cover the rear view camera and see if that does anything. Still not doing anything. Let's try one of the other cameras. Still not doing anything. We'll try the front camera. And the alarm is still not set off. So I feel like at this point it's recording me, but it's not setting up the alarm. And I mean, obviously this is my car. If someone was doing this to my car, I think I'd want the alarm to be triggered at this point because I get a notification on my phone when the alarm has been triggered. But right now nothing's happening. So I think what we're going to have to do is we're going to have to do all everything we've just done, but I'm going to close the window just in case that has any kind of impact. So let me get the key actually, before I do unlock it. Can I close the window while it's locked? No, none of the windows work when the car's locked. OK, we'll unlock and I'm going to wind up the window and we'll lock the car again. Go put this back over there again. Now, let's not forget that we need to wait another 60 seconds, 128 seconds later, let's repeat all of the same tests once again. So let's watch those lights and see at what point it is that Centricam engages. So if I stand here, nothing happens. But if I go a step closer, there you go. Centricam's on, right? So we'll do the door handles again. Be a bit rough with them as well. Same with this one. No alarm start cluttering about. I want to hit it so hard that it's good for the test, but not so hard that it actually causes any kind of long term damage. I think that's as much as I did to be honest. Now let's try the shake test. There we go. So the alarm is still not triggered and we waited more than 60 seconds. So I think that the alarm isn't sensitive enough. I definitely feel like if someone was doing this to my car, I'd want the alarm to turn on. If you can hear an alarm, it's a train rather than this, by the way, So don't worry. So obviously software updates do provide improvements to this kind of thing, but potentially this just the alarm isn't something they're focused on. So I'm completely covering this, the boot camera right now. I'm also going to try and get into the boot repeatedly. Still not turning the alarm on. Is it even filming? You know? Oh, it is now. So I'm trying these doors. Still nothing. What does it take to get this alarm to set off? Quite a few of you in the last video. Whoa, what are you doing? Carry on, carry on. Settle down over there. Quite a few of you in the last video thought that because in the end it was Becky that got the alarm to trigger. Quite a few of you thought that it recognized me as the driver. That was just coincidence. That isn't how it works. It does not do that. It would say somewhere in the manual if that was the case, as cool as that would be. Well, right. I'm going to have to jump on top, aren't I? So it's recording, but it doesn't deem this activity sufficient enough to set off the alarm. I'm now on top of the Tesla Model 3 and the car is silent. I'm making my way across and back down the other side. Are you OK? I'm all right, I'm all right. Also, we upload once a week. So please do subscribe if you want to see more of these kind of tests and that sort of thing, Right? What is it going to take to get this car to trigger the alarm? Absolutely nothing. We could go around one side each and rock it. Yeah. Yeah, Yeah. OK, 11, That sounds good. All right. You ready? Yeah, I'm covering the alarm. I'm covering the camera. They're not seeing anything, trying to get into the pool, but it's like, oh, knock yourself out. She repeatedly opening the boot. Jack's on the car. I'm constantly doing this and nothing and the alarm's not setting off. I mean, it's filming this whole thing, but why is the alarm not set off? Basically, right now we're showing that if you want to go lie about on a Tesla, I'll be going for it. So I think some definite changes to the way the alarm system works needs to be implemented because this isn't good at all. Because the fact that I can do this and get away with it is not good at all. It's actually harder to get the alarm to trigger than it was in the last video. I still nothing. What is going on? It's obviously it's great that it records from all four cameras. You know, that that's a kind of a very unique thing that I don't think any of the cars currently do to that extent anyway. But the alarm definitely needs to trigger. Well, yeah, I mean, you can just watch everyone vandalize your car in. Yeah, exactly. You want to deter them right there and then, don't you? Whereas if they're not bothered about the sentry Cam and they've got a mask on or whatever, they're not going to be bothered. It's not going to set off. OK, We literally can't get the alarm to trigger. So I think what we're going to do is I'm going to go get the card, I'm going to unlock the car, and then we're going to lock the car again with the windows open like the original test. And let's see if I can climb inside of the car without any alarms triggering. Here you go, many seconds of fast and basically I'm going to attempt to climb into the car here and climb out the other side. Bless you. Sorry, without any alarms going off now, I am going to take my shoes off for this because I'm not absolutely mental. So Sentry Calm is filming and here we go. He heads in, look his socks. I'm in. So I did wonder if sort of putting weight onto any of the seats so that it detected that someone was here. I did wonder if that would have any impact. Currently it has not. So let's climb into the back. Oh, here we go, Here we go. Oh my God, let me roll the middle. Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ. I don't think that. I don't think it will come across just how loud that actually was. I mean, my head felt like it was going to explode. Jeez. OK, well, at least we know that weight inside the car does trigger. It specifically seem to be the back seats though, which is quite interesting. So I'm going to lock it again, and I want to sit in the passenger seat because I was in the driver's seat and it didn't drink. Why have I still got no shoes on? Glass, glass everywhere. Here we go again. All right, shoes are coming off and I'm going to climb inside. Sentry has activated, so I think I'm just going to sit in the front seat just for just for 20 seconds or so, just so we can see because it can sense when there's weight on all five seats. And it wasn't until I was sat for a few seconds before it triggered there. But it looks like it's not going to trigger here. Give it a little jump up and down. OK, That's quite a big shake though. Actually, do you want to get move back a bit, Becky and I'll do a bit of a shake for you. Bless you. OK, so at least we've learned what triggers the alarm, but I'm not really satisfied with that. I think it should be a lot more sensitive than that. You know, we gave it plenty time, we gave it the 60 seconds at the manual request and we did all sorts to the car and it was only actually being inside and sitting on one of the seats for a considerable amount of time that actually made the alarms trigger. So I think we should get back in and we should just have a little flick through some of the Century recordings just so we can see what they look like. So you can see here we've got 19 events occurred and all we need to do is actually click on those and then we can watch them all where the Century mode incident actually happened. Oh, it's you running. So unfortunately none of them record audio just yet, which is a real shame. You just let me go. There you go. Look at that. You might not know, but there is actually a camera right above the mirror that currently isn't enabled and it's just there for future in case they need it. Some of you, I imagine would be a bit kind of suspicious of that sort of thing, but I assume that has a microphone built in and it would be really nice if the microphone picked up on sentry Cam footage. Oh, look, it's me. I'm having a little dance about all my shoes in there. It's like I just teleport. Whoa, look at me going for it. Oh, look, I'm waving. Do you see me do a little wave? Look at that. And then you're absolutely going mental up here. Vicky, look at that. This one's only no seconds long. I guess it's less than a second, but that's all we get. And it's just the exact moment that I flick one of the handles up, as you can see. Look at that, I'm kicking off. Got a lovely shot there. This is one for our 8% female audience. Look at that 1E. Don't don't put the cover on me like that, OK? I think we should end that little experiment there. Yeah, I still don't think the Tesla alarm is sufficient. I feel like it should trigger a lot more easily than what we've been doing here. I shouldn't be able to climb on and off the car without an alarm going off. It's obviously amazing that it records stuff, but the alarm needs to be a bit more sensitive as well because it only triggers based on stuff that happens inside. What is that about? Anyway? Hopefully you enjoyed. Let me know your opinions and thoughts in the comments down below.
