Chelsea linked with Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier
Chelsea are in the market (again) for a young (shock) striker (shock!), so one would expect the club to get linked with just about any and all remotely available goalscorer out there.
The latest name in that line of rumors is TSG Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier, who had himself a breakout season in the Bundesliga, recently made his international debut for Germany, and was also selected for their squad to Euro 2024.
Just 21, Beier scored 16 times in 33 games, doubling his previous career high (in the second division!) and finishing fifth on the BuLi goalscoring charts. His goals helped Hoffenheim finish seventh in the league and qualify for next year’s Europa League as well.
And it’s apparently also put him on the radar of “several” Premier League teams, including Chelsea, at least according to Sky Sports Germany. They do note however that we’re “not in pole position at the moment” and that Beier, who has three years left on the contract he signed back in October, would only want to leave if “everything truly fit perfectly”.
So that sounds like a whole lot of nothing, though with an “around €30m” release clause, Beier could be right in our “disciplined” wheelhouse.
