Does Marquise Brown Have 'Golden Opportunity' With Chiefs?
The Kansas City Chiefs signed receiver Marquise Brown to give Patrick Mahomes a speed element to his offense that was sorely missing last season.
With Brown now linking up with Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, Justin Watson, and draftee Xavier Worthy, Mahomes has a good receiving core as he chases three consecutive Super Wins.

But the move is good for Brown, too. Entering his sixth season in the NFL, Brown has just one 1,000-yard year (2021 with the Baltimore Ravens), although he has been a consistent performer throughout his career.
Last season was his worst statistically for yards (574) with the Arizona Cardinals, and now he moves to Kansas City to catch passes for Mahomes. For NFL.com's Tom Blair, Brown, who signed a one-year deal, has a great chance to re-establish himself as a genuine weapon in the league.
"I'm happy for any receiver who gets the chance to work with Patrick Mahomes," Blair wrote. "Yes, Brown is kind of spoiled in this department, having previously caught passes from Lamar Jackson in Baltimore and Kyler Murray in Arizona. The Chiefs present a golden opportunity for Brown to earn himself a long-term contract somewhere -- maybe even in Kanas City, if he can become a consistent, reliable and productive partner for Mahomes. And, frankly, I'm in favor of anything that helps Mahomes spin more magic on the field."
What is noteworthy about Brown's career is that in his last four seasons, he has had 100+ targets. Last year for the Cardinals, he only managed 51 receptions, which was the worst catch rate of his career (50.5 percent). One can only imagine what kind of numbers he could put up if he sees 100 targets from Mahomes.
Of course, he will be fighting for targets with Kelce and Rice, but Brown could develop into a nice complementary piece for the Chiefs offense.
His blazing speed could open up things for Kelce and Co., while Mahomes has the arm talent to get the ball down the field for big gains (Brown hasn't had a 50+ yard reception since 2020).
In Andy Reid's offense, Brown will be getting the ball in advantageous positions, and with a quarterback like Mahomes getting it to him, big things could be coming for the receiver.
A golden opportunity indeed.
