Hidden Mechanics In Fortnite's Battle Royale

  • Nitro grants sprint speed, duration, and power benefits to players.
  • Hijack opponent vehicles to render their turrets useless by joining them as a passenger.
  • Throw shield breaker EMPs to disable vehicles and force enemies out for a balanced ground fight.

Winning Fortnite's Battle Royale is no easy task, and even with an abundance of tips and tricks, the best players can still struggle to make the tally of their Victory Crowns increase. Yet, with every new season of Fortnite, players also have to understand that a few mechanics will be added, and Chapter 5 Season 3 is certainly no exception thanks to the vehicle meta that has made the Battle Royale all about wheels and turrets rather than boots and shotguns.

Fortnite Battle Royale: Tips and Tricks to Victory

Struggling to get Victory Royale in Fortnite? Here are some essential tips and tricks that might just help players to win a match or more.

With these mechanics in play for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3, it may benefit some players to understand a few mechanics that might be a tad hidden from them, allowing them to learn the trades of the latest season of Fortnite to master its potential and even bring forth a Victory Royale or more.

Destroy Foes and Objects With Nitro

Nitro Grants Bonuses To Sprint Speed, Duration, And Power

Nitro is a useful item introduced in Chapter 5 Season 3, which grants a few benefits to its user. Whether players smash it on the floor to consume it, or throw it towards a friend, everyone can benefit from its advantages. Nitro will allow players to run faster and longer, and it will also provide them with the ability to charge and smash through materials like walls.

Even better still, is the fact that Nitro can be used to charge into players, damaging them and even potentially taking them out of the game with repeated success. Some players have even been able to use Nitro when they are downed, allowing for them to get away, or charge into enemies to bring them down too.

Hijack Opponent Vehicles To Render Their Turrets Useless

Disable Turrets By Sharing A Ride With An Enemy

Chapter 5 Season 3 is all about vehicular warfare. If players come into contact with a vehicle without one themselves, then they are going to have a hard time, as opposing forces will run them over and gun them down from the safety of their car without risk to their own lives. Yet, there's a way to counter that, and some players might not know that they can just jump into the passenger seat.

Fortnite: 8 Most OP Items

Throughout the 7 year history of Fortnite Battle Royale, some items have become infamously overpowered.

Sitting inside an enemy vehicle will allow players to roam the wasteland safely without risk of their enemy shooting them without risk of destroying their own car, or leaving it to be accessed. Having two players on opposing teams in the same car will also deactivate the turret to stop teamwork in solo games.

Throw Shield Breaker EMPs To Disable Vehicles

EMP Grenades Destroy Shields and Disable Vehicles, Forcing Enemies Out Of Hiding

EMP Grenades were first introduced to allow players to target enemy shields, but they have evolved with Chapter 5 Season 3. Now, players can throw an EMP Grenade at a vehicle, which will force enemies out of their vehicle, and disable it for a decent amount of time so that players are forced to engage in a boots-on-the-ground fight instead of steamrolling the competition with cow catchers and turrets.

It's always a good idea to carry EMP Grenades, as they are no longer just a weapon for deleting shields. The ability to remove vehicles from the game, even if momentarily, really helps bring back a balance between combatants.

Venture To The Underworld For A 3-Use Dash

Dash Past Enemy Attacks With Speed And Invulnerability

Despite being a mechanic from Chapter 5 Season 3, the Underworld Dash is very much still a thing, even if it's rather limited in its use against vehicles. The Underworld Dash can be discovered across the dark areas of The Underworld and Grim Gate, where stepping into the green waters will provide players with three growing skulls that orbit around them.

Fortnite: 9 Best Weapons in Chapter 5 Season 3, Ranked

If players want a better chance at the Victory Royale in Fortnite, they're going to need to pick the best weapons of Chapter 5 Season 3.

These glowing skulls can be exchanged for a dash whenever players hit the jump button twice in a row, allowing them to dash forward at a high speed. This is greatly useful in The Underworld for escaping death, but players can also keep these charges, and use them against an endgame fight with opponents that lack this ability.

Use Slurp Cacti To Heal Vehicles

Slurp Cacti Can Heal Players And Vehicles Alike

Slurp Cacti are discovered all across the South of the island, and they are great for players who need health and shield in a hurry. Simply hitting them will activate them, allowing players to heal themselves and their allies without the use of items from their inventory. Yet, they aren't just for healing players.

If players drive their vehicle into a slurp cactus, it will grant them health, and also their vehicle. The fact that players can heal themselves and their vehicle without the use of a repair box or a repair torch makes for a hidden mechanic that can save players trapped in a vehicle war with no way to heal them.
