Over the last two seasons, Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant has been involved in controversies more often than not. Even though Morant served his 25-game suspension last season, the two-time NBA All-Star played just nine games due to a shoulder injury.
While Morant has faced a lot of heat from fans, Nike has never left the Grizzlies star’s side during these tough times. In fact, the sneaker brand views Morant as one of its premiere athletes.
New Ja Morant sneakers expected to drop soon
So far, Morant only has one signature shoe with the popular brand: the Nike Ja 1. Although the Nike Ja 2 was seemingly leaked recently, we are referring to a different shoe variant set to be unveiled soon.
According to Sneaker News, Nike Ja 1 “Reverse Scratch” PE’s are all set to hit the shelves on July 01, 2024.
“The Nike Ja 1 “Reverse Scratch” will be released on July 01, retailing for $130,” the report claimed. “It remains unclear whether it’ll be a SNKRS or Nike.com drop, but the demand for this pair is expected to be high either way.”
As mentioned earlier, the shoes will retail for $130. Considering Morant’s kicks are among the most sought-after, fans should expect them to sell out as soon as they are available.
Will Morant play in the 2024-25 NBA season?
Morant showcased excellent growth in the first three seasons of his NBA career. However, the former No. 2 overall pick’s career has slightly derailed over the last two years.
Although Morant is free from any off-field controversy as of now, he is still recovering from a labral tear in his right shoulder. The 2019-20 Rookie of the Year is expected to return to full basketball activities sometime during the offseason.
With that said, it’s obvious that Morant will be available to start the season for the Grizzlies. It’s great news for the franchise that will be looking forward to finishing in a playoff spot next season.
