‘Don’t shame anyone’: Marise Pollard on losing weight post partum

Marise Pollard, the wife of Springboks flyhalf Handre Pollard, opened up about losing weight after welcoming their first child in a Q&A session on Instagram on Wednesday 19 June.

MARISE POLLARD ON LOSING WEIGHT POST PARTUM

Handre Pollard’s wife, Marise hosted a Q&A session on her Instagram account on Wednesday 19 June. Many of her followers took the opportunity to ask the Springboks WAG questions about her pregnancy and post partum journey after she gave birth. Handre and Marise welcomed a baby boy named Hunter Andre Pollard on 25 April. This is the pair’s first child together.

One of Marise’s followers was curious to know how she lost the baby weight so quickly and asked for advice.

“You look amazing. How did you lose weight so fast after birth? Any advice?”

Marise replied saying that this was a question she was asked often and not always in a good way. She explained that her post partum journey has been difficult but advises that you focus on your mental health.

“This is a question I have received on a daily basis and not always in a positive light. First PP (post partum) is damn hard, it’s hard for everyone and it’s so important to be kind to yourself and focus on your own mental health. I have not done anything. I couldn’t train during my pregnancy which was really tough for me, and I haven’t really trained since,” she wrote.

MRS POLLARD SHARES HER ADVICE

Marise went on to say that her journey had complications, which she would not reveal on social media. However, it’s most important to be present with your baby, look after your mental health ad be surrounded by things that make you happy.

“I have been breastfeeding which has felt like a training program on it’s own haha. My PP journey has been tough with complications which I’m not going to share on here. But don’t compare and don’t shame anyone because you don’t know what their going through,” she continued.

“So my advice is, be present with your baby. Look after your mental health. Do and surround yourself with people and things that make you happy. I really made a conscious decision to be positive and to be vocal to Handre and my family if I wasn’t feeling well. Being in a positive mind space was the most important thing for me,” she concluded.
