Heat and humidity fuels thunderstorm threat in Ontario Tuesday
Did booming thunderstorms wake you up this morning in Ontario? We've certainly seen them in the north and the northwest. And in southern Ontario, we certainly saw them passing through areas in the West End of the GTA, frequent lightning strikes, the heavy downpours, all in the risk factor and that will be ongoing through today. There's no real organized activity to produce this. It's just all that heat and humidity that's going to fuel the instability and bring us the risk of thunderstorms into this late afternoon and overnight once again through tomorrow morning. Now it is a hot one out there already this early morning. We've felt it into the afternoon. It's going to feel like the 40s and there's a lot of atmospheric moisture in the environment. So when these thunderstorms do get triggered, it can produce those heavy downpours and the gusty winds.
