Bryson DeChambeau snagged the U. S.Open title in a sensational finish, outstripping Rory McIlroy in what's hailed as an epic for the history books, with Brooks Koepka, his long-time foe, among the first to extend his congratulations.

Despite kicking off the final round with jitters and only a three-stroke lead, DeChambeau saw McIlroy, a four-time major champ, close the gap. However, after losing his leading edge and bogeying on the 12th as McIlroy landed a birdie one hole later. DeChambeau found himself trailing by two.

Refusing to crumble under the intense strain, DeChambeau maintained his composure and delivered a spectacular par on the final hole, following a dodgy drive. Meanwhile, McIlroy crumbled with a close-range bogey, allowing DeChambeau to sink a calm par putt that awarded him his second U.S. Open trophy and cemented his status as a double major winner amidst his affiliation with the LIV Golf series.

In the midst of the post-victory buzz, Koepka, another top-dog from LIV Golf and DeChambeau's notorious rival, promptly congratulated him via Twitter: "Welcome to the club 2x US Open champ," he wrote, acknowledging DeChambeau's entry into the circle of players with multiple U. S. Open wins.

The golf sphere had once been electric with the animosity between Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau, their beef sparking in 2019 over slow play disputes and escalating as they slung pointed barbs through tweets and media chats.

The frost between them has melted, and they were even seen sharing a chuckle during a practice round last year. Now both aligned with the LIV Golf league, they're gearing up for some head-to-head action on the course, though a major championship showdown won't be on the cards until The Open at Royal Troon.

After his recent close call, McIlroy is tipped by DeChambeau to return with a vengeance. He remarked post-round: "I'm sure it will fuel Rory's fire even more. He's a strong-minded individual."

DeChambeau mused about his own approach, stating: "For me, it was knowing how good my game is, how great of a place it's in, and just continuing to execute knowing the statistics would eventually fall my way. Still hope. Golf, it's a game of luck. There's a lot of luck that has to happen and go your way out there. I knew if I could give my 100% effort on every single shot, I'd give myself a good chance this week, just like I did at the PGA, just like I did at the Masters."

"Rory is going to [win another major]. I'd love to have a lot more battles with him. It would be a lot of fun. But, yeah, Rory's going to do it at some point."
