Jaylen Brown Earns New Nickname After Winning NBA Finals MVP
Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has earned himself a new nickname after clinching the 2024 NBA Finals MVP award with his stellar performance against the Dallas Mavericks.
Brown maintained impressive averages of 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in five games during the NBA Finals, including a standout performance of 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists in Boston's 106-88 closeout victory over the Mavericks.
His consistency wasn't limited to the Finals alone; throughout the playoffs, Brown showcased his reliability by averaging 23.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 19 games this postseason.
His remarkable ability to deliver night after night not only secured him the Finals MVP award and a championship but also earned him a new nickname from ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins: Jaylen “Appreciated” Brown.
After Brown received the award, Perkins took to social media, posting, “No all NBA and swept the playoff MVPs. Legendary! Jaylen “Appreciated” Brown.”

Despite averaging 23 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, helping Boston secure a dominant 64-18 record and the number one seed in the Eastern Conference by far, Jaylen Brown did not make an All-NBA or All-Defensive team this year.
Brown was named to the All-NBA Second Team last season, a recognition that opened the door for him to sign the richest contract in league history: $304 million over five years.
While he might not have the ability to claim he was an All-NBA member this year, he can proudly state that he is an NBA champion and an NBA Finals MVP winner—achievements that many players never reach in their careers.
