Washington has made it to the home stretch for 2025 four-star linebacker Zaydrius Rainey-Sale, the No. 1 ranked player in this year's football recruiting class according to 247Sports.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder out of Bethel High School (Spanaway, Wash.) announced Monday that the in-state Huskies, along with Florida State and UCLA, will be the three schools vying for his commitment on July 1.
Rainey-Sale previously committed to UW back in January under former coach Kalen DeBoer before he left to take the same job at Alabama.
Over the past month the talented Evergreen State prospect, who can play at inside or outside linebacker, has taken official visits to both FSU and UCLA, along with trips to California. Oregon State and Texas, saving his last official for UW this coming weekend.
Rainey-Sale will be one of 13 recruits on campus at UW starting on Friday, with nine of the official visitors being defensive prospects.
Back in early May after the coaching staff wrapped up spring camp one of the first recruits they checked in on was the coveted Bethel senior-to-be.
Given that UW has yet to host Rainey-Sale, and they still made his final list, it bodes well for first-year coach Jedd Fisch to reel the one-time Husky commit back in the boat.
Over the past two season for Bethel the versatile defender has recorded 118 total tackles (68 solo), 11.5 tackles for loss and 8 sacks over 15 games for the 4A high school.
