Port to challenge Dixon, Butters AFL bans
The Power will fight for their stars Charlie Dixon (L) and Zak Butters (C) at the AFL Tribunal.
Port Adelaide have announced they will challenge the AFL bans handed down to Charlie Dixon and Zak Butters.
Dixon was handed a three-match suspension for his high bump on West Adelaide's Jordan White while playing in the SANFL on Saturday.
White was concussed by the hit, and the rough conduct charge against Dixon was assessed as careless conduct, high contact and severe impact.
Butters was handed a one-match ban for whacking GWS midfielder Tom Green in the face in an off-the-ball incident.
The Port star attempted to hit Green on the shoulder, but his hand deflected into the face of the Giant and was graded as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact.
Butters will face the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday afternoon, with Dixon to front the SANFL Tribunal on Wednesday evening.
If Butters fails to overturn his ban, he will be ineligible for the Brownlow.
Butters is averaging 27.2 disposals and five clearances per game this season, and has also kicked seven goals.
The Power (8-5) have lost four of their past eight games to slip to seventh on the ladder, and they face a crunch clash with the Brisbane Lions at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
North Melbourne's Kallan Dawson has accepted his one-match ban for elbowing Collingwood's Jack Crisp.
