Power's Dixon rubbed out for three, Butters also banned
Port Adelaide's Zak Butters has been given a one-match ban, putting his Brownlow hopes in jeopardy.
Port Adelaide have been dealt a big double blow after forward Charlie Dixon copped a three-match ban and midfield star Zak Butters was rubbed out for one.
Dixon, playing in the SANFL after being dropped from the senior side, was charged with rough conduct for his high bump on West Adelaide's Jordan White.
The incident was assessed as careless conduct, high contact and severe impact, leading to a three-game suspension.
Port have until Tuesday morning to decide whether to fight the charge.
The Power also will have to decide what to do about Butters after the star midfielder was banned for slapping an opponent.
Butters attempted to whack Tom Green on the shoulder, but his hand deflected into the face of the GWS midfielder.
The incident was off the ball, and was graded as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, drawing a one-match ban.
Unless Port choose to challenge the ban and successfully downgrade it at the AFL Tribunal, Butters will be ineligible to win the Brownlow.
Butters is averaging 27.2 disposals and five clearances per game this season, and has also kicked seven goals.
The Power (8-5) have lost four of their past eight games to slip to seventh on the ladder, and they face a crunch clash with Brisbane at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
North Melbourne's Kallan Dawson was also offered a one-match ban for elbowing Collingwood's Jack Crisp.
That incident was graded as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.
Port Adelaide ruckman Ivan Soldo can escape with a $2500 fine for an off-the-ball bump that winded Lachie Whitfield.
Giants defender Connor Idun was fined $2500 for a rough conduct offence on Jed McEntee.
