'Plenty of Improvement' Ahead for Chiefs Offense, Mahomes
It is a little odd to think that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes managed to win the Super Bowl last season with what could be described as his worst supporting cast since becoming a starter in the league. But that's what he did.
With only Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice as the main contributors and a solid run game thanks to Isiah Pacheco, the Chiefs managed to lean on Steve Spagnuolo's defense and claim back-to-back championships.

This offseason, the front office added speedsters Marquise Brown (free agency) and Xavier Worthy (draft) to bolster Mahomes' weapons. CBS Sports thinks that Mahomes is set to have an improved season in 2024 because of those two acquisitions.
"Kansas City added depth to its receiver room this offseason by selecting Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who ran a record 4.21 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, 28th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft and signing deep threat Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, a 2019 first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens," CBS writes. "With those two on board in 2024, Mahomes' deep passing game should return, leading to plenty of improvement."
It was a poor year statistically, with Mahomes' lowest passing yards total and touchdowns since 2019, his second-lowest yards per game total, and his worst-ever QBR. He still managed to lead his team to a Super Bowl win with the help of Spagnuolo's defense.
Now, with two more weapons that give Mahomes his deep threat back, the Chiefs look ominous in 2024 as they hunt for a third consecutive Super Bowl title.
The Chiefs' offense didn't have a deep threat element last season; now, it has two, and that means only good things for Mahomes in 2024 as he looks to be the driving force behind his franchise making history.
