Weather update: Heatwave to continue in Himachal, Punjab and Haryana; partly cloudy skies in Delhi

In Himachal Pradesh, the centre has issued an extensive heatwave warning for the next three days in a few pockets of Sirmour, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Una, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Kullu, and Solan.
Una recorded the maximum temperature at 43.6 degrees Celsius, said the local weather office, on Friday. Shimla again crossed the 30-degree Celsius mark to register a high of 31 degrees Celsius. This is five notches above the season’s average.
In Haryana and Punjab, heat wave conditions continued unabated. Abohar sizzled at 47.6 degrees Celsius, the Met Centre said on Friday.
In Chandigarh, blistering heat also continued to prevail. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius, according to the centre’s weather report. Amritsar and Ludhiana also reeled under extreme heat at 44.8 degrees Celsius and 44.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.

In western Rajasthan, the Met department has predicted thunderstorm activity for the next three days and in eastern Rajasthan for the next four to five days.
In the next four to five days, the southwest monsoon is likely to advance into the whole of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, said the Met department, on Friday. Heavy to very heavy showers at one or two places are very likely to continue over the northern districts of the state.
Cloudy skies in Delhi
In Delhi, the IMD predicted partly cloudy skies with a possibility of thunderstorms and light rain or drizzle in a few places towards the afternoon and evening on Saturday.
The IMD added that the capital will be on orange alert for the next five days. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 44 and 31 degrees Celsius, respectively.
