UK's 'tallest rollercoaster' Hyperia at Thorpe Park 'breaks down' - with thrill-seekers stuck on ride at 236ft for an HOUR just days after reopening
Hyperia first opened on May 24 but shut just one day later
The UK's tallest rollercoaster appeared to break down at Thorpe Park yesterday - with thrill-seekers being stuck 236ft in the air for an hour just days after it reopened.
Hyperia first opened on May 24 but shut just one day later due to 'unforeseen circumstances' - promising it would be open again in five days.
But the dare devil device - which the park have dubbed their 'Golden Goddess' - only reopened on June 12, two weeks after they had said.
And just three days after its reopening it came to a standstill mid-way through the ride yesterday.
Standing 72 meters tall - as high as 18 stacked double decker buses - it has a top speed of 81 miles per hour.

The attraction appeared to have halted at nearly the peak of the experience - before punters plummeted in a near-vertical drop on the other side.
Thorpe Park said that the ride had 'experienced a short delay' as guests were stuck high in the air for nearly an hour.
They added that it is 'perfectly normal' for rollercoasters to halt midway through a ride.
'Hyperia experienced a short delay in operation today,' they told The Sun. 'Guests were held on the lift hill for approximately one hour before the ride was restarted and the train was brought back into the ride station.
'Stoppages are perfectly normal and commonly experienced in theme parks everywhere.
'At no stage was there any safety concerns for guests.'
The site was evacuated as staff tried to free the people on the ride, the Mirror reported.
One onlooker even claimed that someone had gone up the ride to give the unlucky thrill-seekers some lunch.
One parkgoer told the newspaper: 'A guy went up with a harness spoke to them and came back down. They've now closed the ride.
'It has been open/closed all morning and they have evacuated the whole ride area.'
