One Nation Chief of Staff James Ashby says Labor thinks Samantha Mostyn will be the “very last governor-general” Australia will have.

The Albanese government has proposed a $214,000 pay rise for incoming Governor-General Samantha Mostyn.

They are proposing to take the salary from $495,000 to $709,000.

“Call me a cynic, but I reckon this is Labor deliberately jacking the wages up – this is likely in Labor’s books to be the very last governor-general we’ll have,” Mr Ashby told Sky News host Caleb Bond.
