Jeff Hardy returns to TNA after Matt Hardy speared his wife through a table in world title fight
Jeff Hardy is back in TNA!
Jeff made a surprise appearance at Against All Odds (June 14, 2024) to close the show after Matt Hardy challenged Moose for the TNA World Championship.
The main event title bout was contested under Broken Rules, which meant anything goes. Moose tried to take advantage of the stipulation by arriving with the System in tow. The Nemeth Boyz were quick to even the odds and brawl with Brian Myers and Eddie Edwards to the back. Only Alisha Edwards remained ringside for the match.
Hardy dominated early with a DDT, a Side Effect on the apron, and a Twist of Fate on the floor. Moose resorted to using weapons to stay in the game. Tables, ladders, and chairs were aplenty. Not to mention an assortment of other objects. The hefty spots in the first half were a superplex from Moose onto a pile of chairs and Hardy powerbombing the champ onto open chairs.
What’s in the box? Hardy pulled out a cardboard box with a mischievous grin. Moose whacked him with a trashcan lid and curiosity got the better of him to peak in the box. Moose pulled out a football helmet. Moose strapped up and blitzed forward, however, Hardy countered with a back body drop to send him over the ropes crashing onto a ladder.
Hardy went into architect mode to set up a ladder and a table for a flying leg drop through the wood.
The storyline between Hardy and Moose came full circle when the challenger placed a chair around the champion’s neck for a Twist of Fate. It sure seemed like we would have a title change on our hands. Not so fast, my friend. Alisha went crazy swinging a kendo stick on Hardy’s back to break the pinfall. Rebecca Hardy entered the ring to protect her husband. Reby hit a Twist of Fate on Alisha.
Moose wearily rose to his feet in front of a table leaning in the corner. Reby encouraged Matt to go for a spear. When Matt charged forward, Moose pulled Reby in front. Matt speared his own wife through the table. Moose exploded for a spear on Matt to win.
The night didn’t end there.
The System returned for a beatdown on Matt and Reby. The Nemeth brothers and Joe Hendry tried to make the save, but the numbers got them. Hit Brother Nero’s music. Jeff walked out on stage to make his grand return. Hardy soaked in the cheers on stage, but at least he didn’t juke dance this time while his brother was in trouble.
Jeff cleaned house with a chair and popped Moose with a Twist of Fate. Matt added a second Twist of Fate to his nemesis. The whole group of heroes stood tall to close the show as Matt lead ‘Delete’ chants.
That main event and surprise from Jeff was a heck of a lot of fun. Matt’s match was as good as could be at this point in his career. He hit signature spots to please the crowd and even had a believable tease at victory. Spearing Reby through the table was a memorable way to lead into the finish. Icing on the cake was the crowd’s electric reaction to Brother Nero.
Jeff is a three-time TNA world champion and a two-time TNA tag champ with Matt. The last time Jeff wrestled in TNA was in 2017.
