U.S. Open 2024: Bryson DeChambeau calls for physio to work on injured hip amid Saturday charge at Pinehurst

Bryson DeChambeau made an electrifying charge up the leaderboard on Saturday at the 2024 U.S. Open. When he wasn't laying on his back, that is.

As he made the turn in one under par during the third round at Pinehurst No. 2, DeChambeau called for a trainer. NBC's Jim "Bones" Mackay reported that the 2020 U.S. Open champ has had torn ligaments in both hips for some time, and that he had gotten "tight."

That said, his hips looked fine as DeChambeau uncorked another bomb on No. 10 leading to a birdie. Then he had some work done on him by the physio off to the side of the 11th tee.

DeChambeau requested cameras stay away, but NBC shot drone footage in which you can see him on the ground being worked on:

DeChambeau's camp told Golf Digest that Bryson woke up Saturday morning with discomfort in his right hip. It caused him to have an abbreviated warm-up session before teeing off because he was getting treatment ahead of his 3:35 p.m. tee time. They did not say whether there was a tear in the hip or not.

Our Luke Kerr-Dineen wrote about how important DeChambeau's hips are to his power on Friday. The LIV star is averaging 337.8 yards off the tee this week.

After being worked on, DeChambeau hit a 359-yard drive down the middle of the fairway on the 11th hole and made another birdie as he grabbed the solo lead.

"What's that physio's number?" NBC's Dan Hicks joked moments later.
