The 2024 college football season will be here before fans know it, with it already being the middle of June and recruiting visits as hot as the weather outside.
Trying to preview teams and make predictions is one of the hardest things, but not as hard as ranking specific position groups.
Pro Football Focus has been releasing bits and pieces of their best position groups in the country, with Alabama being hoisted as the No. 1 offensive line in the land.
Finally, Pro Football Focus finished their rankings and showed off their full list of best position groups.
What makes this stout line exceptionally fearsome is Tyler Booker and Jaeden Roberts manning the guard positions along with Washington transfer Parker Brailsford at center
Booker, Proctor, and Brailsford were named in On3's Top 100 players in college football list with Booker also receiving top 50 way-too-early NFL Draft Board nods.
In the offensive line rankings, the Crimson beat out SEC opponents in Georgia, LSU, and Texas who finished right behind Alabama. Missouri and Florida from the SEC were also included.
No other conference had more than two teams on the offensive line list with both the ACC and Big-10 producing two each.
Here is what PFF's Max Chadwick had to say about his No. 1 ranked crew.
"The Crimson Tide takes the top spot because they have one of the most loaded interior offensive lines in recent memory.
All three of Alabama's projected starters on the interior made PFF's list of the top returners at the position: Parker Brailsford (No. 1), Tyler Booker (No. 3) and Jaeden Roberts (No. 7).
They also return sophomore left tackle Kadyn Proctor, who transferred from Alabama to Iowa and back to Alabama, all in a span of three months. The former top-10 recruit’s freshman season was a roller coaster, as he earned a 76.3 PFF grade in the final seven games after posting a 54.5 mark in the first seven.
The right tackle spot will likely be manned by Elijah Pritchett, a former top-35 overall recruit in the class of 2022."
This position group will be leaned on heavily especially in the beginning of the season as the passing game evolves and that's exactly why the O-line is one of the keys to winning a title this season.
Surprinsgly, the only other SEC unit to make the best position group list was Georgia's quarterback unit. The Bulldogs host the Heisman trophy favorite in returning starter Carson Beck.
Beck will lead his squad into Tuscaloosa on September 28.
