Three Frontrunners for the 2024 Conn Smythe Trophy
The odds are immensely promising that the Florida Panthers will win their first Stanley Cup in their franchise history. After a big 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3, they now have a commanding 3-0 series lead. Because of this, they have four chances to secure just one win to take the series and the Stanley Cup.
A significant reason for the Panthers' success this season has been the outstanding play of their entire roster. Their NHL-best depth has done wonders. Yet, which of their players has the best chance to win the Conn Smythe Trophy as the postseason's MVP? Let's discuss three of their top options now.
Sergei Bobrovsky
Not too long ago, Sergei Bobrovsky was viewed as having one of the worst contracts in the NHL. Funny how quickly things can change. Since Florida's magical playoff run last year, Bobrovsky has regained his star form. This postseason, however, he has taken his game to a new level.

Bobrovsky, 35, is a significant reason the Panthers have made it this far in the playoffs. In 20 playoff appearances, he has a 15-5-0 record, a 2.07 goals-against average, and a .916 save percentage. He has also been dominant against the Oilers thus far, posting a 3-0 record, a 1.33 goals-against average, and a .953 save percentage. That is simply elite goaltending, and he warrants real MVP consideration because of it.
Aleksander Barkov
Aleksander Barkov has been marvelous for the Panthers this postseason. In 20 games thus far, he has seven goals to go along with a team-leading 21 points. He has also been dominant against the Oilers, posting one goal and four points in three games. His lone goal was also the winner in Game 3.

While Barkov has been spectacular offensively, his defensive play also helps his case. He has done a great job shutting down Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl so far in this series. The same can be said about his two-way game all postseason. Without Barkov, Florida wouldn't have gotten this far.
Matthew Tkachuk
Matthew Tkachuk has cooled off as of late, but he should still be in the mix for the Conn Smythe. His spectacular play against the Tampa Lightning and Boston Bruins was a big reason the Panthers made it to the Eastern Conference Final.

Even with just one assist in three games against the Oilers, Tkachuk sits at five goals, 20 points, and a plus-5 rating in 20 playoff games. That is an outstanding production, and when noting that he has also been a real pain for opponents physically, he has easily been one of the Panthers' top players. A hot finish to the playoffs will help his odds.
