Flick identifies key reinforcement he wants at Barca this summer
New Barcelona coach Hansi Flick reportedly wants to sign a full-back who can play on both flanks in the summer transfer window.
Diario Sport are reporting the German is “very concerned” about Barca’s defensive shortcomings and could ask for a reinforcement if he’s not convinced by the current options.
Barcelona’s current plan is to have Joao Cancelo and Alejandro Balde as the two full-backs for next season, although a new deal must be struck with Manchester City for the Portugal international.
Flick likes both players but considers them to be “very offensive” which means a tactical balance must be found. He also wants strong alternatives in his squad too, particularly as Jules Kounde is set to return to center-back.
The new Barcelona does have other options in the shape of Julian Araujo, Hector Fort and Alex Valle and will check on all three players when the team returns for pre-season.
If he’s not impressed then he will want Barca to go to market to bring a player who can play both flanks and “put pressure” on both Cancelo and Balde for a starting spot.
