Fuziah takes up tow truck operators’ plea on diesel subsidy
More than 200 tow truck operators gathered in Putrajaya this afternoon to make an appeal to be included in the diesel subsidy scheme.
PUTRAJAYA: The domestic trade and cost of living ministry is ready to help tow truck operators in their appeal to be considered for diesel subsidies to reduce their operational costs.
More than 200 tow truck operators gathered outside the ministry this afternoon to submit a memorandum urging the government to include tow trucks in the list of 23 vehicle categories eligible for diesel aid under the subsidised diesel control system.
Deputy domestic trade and cost of living minister Fuziah Salleh said the matter would be brought to the diesel subsidy appeals committee for consideration.
“The ministry’s primary focus is on essential goods, and we are open to discussions with any party,” she said.
The government lifted the diesel subsidy in Peninsular Malaysia on June 3, with diesel prices rising from RM2.15 to RM3.35 per litre. The rates are to be reviewed every week.
Vehicles in the subsidy scheme can purchase fuel at RM2.15 per litre.
