A caravan maker as gone into liquidation despite a seemingly modest debt.

Victoria-based Highline Caravans Pty Ltd took voluntary liquidation on Tuesday owing $1.14million across almost 60 creditors.

Highline Caravans owes $235,000 to the Australian Taxation office and a further $766,000 to 58 creditors, including Victoria's State Revenue Office.

The company built custom caravans from a factory in Campbellfield, 13km north of Melbourne, with customers able to choose from 13 different models.

Altan Djenab, from insolvency firm Wild Apricot, has been appointed as liquidator, and says revenue shortfalls made the debt unpayable.

'It seems it's down to a lack of orders but I've really got to get in and see what has happened,' Mr Djenab told the Herald Sun.

Employees are not owed any money with initial estimates valuing the company's assets at just $10,000, according to documents.

Creditors owed include aluminum supplier Allytech Australia and caravan suppliers AZQwood and Samaria Australia.

Highline Caravans was founded in 2013 with its since-deleted website saying it had 'years of experience in the caravan manufacturing industry'.
