Katherine Schwarzenegger has thrown some serious shade at the Met Gala and its A-list attendees in a sassy Instagram Stories post - suggesting that she no longer believes the glittering soiree is 'chic' or 'classy'.

The author, 34, made the cutting comment while sharing an image of her mom Maria Shriver, attending the star-studded event 23 years ago, showing her modeling an elegant and demure lilac dress.

Making clear her views on this year's red carpet - which saw a slew of stars eschewing underwear and donning risque nearly-naked gowns - Katherine captioned the image: 'When the met gala was chic and classy.'

And the writer - who recently sparked outrage when she and husband Chris Pratt tore down historic 1950s LA home - was not the only member of her family to call out the increasingly raunchy dress code at the gala.

On her own Instagram account, Maria, 68, shared the same image, while remarking on just how much things have changed since she attended the gala back in 2001.

'It's the first Monday in May and the Met Gala is underway!' she wrote. 'Things were a little more low key when I attended back in 2001, but I thought I would share some photos from that wonderful night.'

'Not only did I get to wear this beautiful dress, but I got to attend with both my parents, as well as my cousin, Caroline.'

In conclusion, the former First Lady of California asked her followers, 'What do you think: would we rock the red carpet in these same looks tonight?'

The images also showed Shriver wearing a sleeveless, lilac gown that clung to her frame and also draped a sheer shawl around her shoulders.

Her hair had been styled into a classic up do, easily revealing a pair of dangly, sparkling earrings that offered a flashy flare to the look.

The 2024 Met Gala took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to celebrate its new exhibition called Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, while the dress code for guests was The Garden of Time.

A number of celebrities were in attendance earlier this week on Monday, including Zendaya - who wowed in three breathtaking ensembles - as well as Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Gigi Hadid, Cardi B, and Kendall Jenner.

The move has angered architecture enthusiasts who claim the home was in great condition with its original features in tact.

It boasted floor-to-ceiling windows, a focal brick fireplace and wood built-ins and was previously featured in Progressive Architecture magazine.

The historic property had previously belonged to Hilda Rolfe, who was married to Sam Rolfe - the co-creator of The Man from Uncle series, before she died in 2022.

Architectural Digest has claimed architect Ken Ungar will design the property for the couple.

The home is across the street from Katherine's mother Maria Shriver and will contain a three-car garage and a secondary unit close to the pool.

The Los Angeles Conservancy, which works to protect and save historic buildings, issued a warning in January about the 1950s property being demolished.

Social media users are upset at Pratt and his wife for tearing down the historic property in favor of a mansion.

'They couldn't build their SHEIN McMansion somewhere else?,' one person asked, while another said, 'Yet more proof that money can't buy good taste.'
