Trey Lance 'Crossing Thresholds' at Cowboys OTAs
OTAs have gotten off to a solid start for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Trey Lance. In what is shaping up as a pivotal offseason for Lance as the Cowboys finally get to see what they have, he made a good impression at The Star.
Our own Mike Fisher stated on the Fish Report that Lance "did impressive things" when on the field as OTAs continue, although a friendly reminder, Trey is throwing against air. But still, it's better than the alternative.
With Dak Prescott also going through his program at OTAs, the two are helping push each other along (no, this won't ever be a quarterback battle), which is good for the room.
Lance, Dak said, "works his ass off.''
As for what head coach Mike McCarthy thinks of Lance and his progression?
“We're involved in a different offense, just the way the position is played, he's crossing the thresholds of training," McCarthy said. "I've been very pleased. The athletic ability is top-notch, we've adjusted some things, not only his motion, but you can see the improvement, the timing, and we're trying to get him as many reps as we can throughout this offseason program, and he will take a large part of the preseason, that's the design.”

It is no secret that Lance was intended to get the majority of preseason snaps so the Cowboys could finally see what's under the hood with what could be considered an unknown commodity despite being in the league since 2021 and having just four starts to his name.
Quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien spoke of having Lance available for a full offseason earlier this week, having only been with him since August last season when the trade between the Cowboys and 49ers went through.
Now, it appears we are seeing the benefits of Lance getting a full offseason's work in at The Star.
Yes, Lance is off to a good start, and his battle isn't with Dak; it's with Rush. If Lance is to be the player Dallas thinks/hopes he is, this battle between him and Cooper won't last long.
Success isn't linear in the NFL, and Lance is proof of that, but he's off to a solid start in his first full offseason as a Cowboy.
