Surfing in the city: how Sydney's new wave park measures up to the real thing
We're here to test out a novelty concept today. Rather than surfing at one of Sydney's many renowned beaches, where instead surfing here at a wave park in Olympic Park. This is the first wave park to open up in Sydney after one opened in Melbourne four years ago. You can try a range of different styles of surfing. Today I am trying the cruiser, which I'm told is that. Option given. I have about a 30% chance of standing up on a surfboard every time I go out. I'm told there's a 5050 chance of success here, so let's hope I don't embarrass myself. It's not going so well. Next time. OK, I think I hit my usual 30% success rate of standing up on the board. I'm not sure how long it lasted, but it was so much fun. It is a bit relentless, every single wave being perfect. There's no time to sit idly and rest, but that is the joy of the mechanical wave. They're always great. So yeah, we'll do again. Now I am absolutely buggered.
