The New England Patriots sent out a happy birthday shoutout to one of the most clutch players to ever wear a Pats uniform, with Julian Edelman turning 38 years old on Wednesday.
Edelman co-starred in the Patriot schedule release extravaganza video alongside former teammate and fellow legend Rob Gronkowski.
Simply put, while Edelman was never a top of the line receiver across the league, he was one of the best and most important players of the entire 20-year run with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.
A former college quarterback turned receiver after the Belichick took him in the seventh round (No. 232 overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft, Edelman had 620 catches in his career for nearly 7,000 yards and 36 touchdowns along with being the franchise's all-time leader in punt return touchdowns with four.
But it was the biggest moments where Edelman really shined brightest. He helped the team win 3 Super Bowl titles with clutch plays in each and was named the MVP of Super Bowl 53 with 10 catches for 141 yards to help the Patriots defeat the Rams and win a sixth ring.
Perhaps the most incredible stat around Edelman is the fact that at the time he retired, the only man with more postseason receiving yards than him was Jerry Rice.
Catching the winning touchdown in Super Bowl 49 against Seattle, making the iconic tip-drill catch in Super Bowl 51 against Atlanta as well as being simply unstoppable in Super Bowl 53 along with as countless other massive postseason moments, Edelman always showed up for the Patriots when the team needed him most.
A hearty Happy Birthday to one of the best Patriots to ever do it!
