Mexican Rock Legends Café Tacvba Release ‘La Bas(e),' First New Music in 7 Years

Café Tacvba is back with new music. On Wednesday, the legendary rock group released "La Bas(e)," the first taste of new Tacvba music in over seven years.

The new single, produced by Gustavo Santaolalla, sets the tone for Café Tacvba's new era and celebrates the group's 35th anniversary. A press release described the track as a "statement of unity, liberty, brotherhood and a safe way of life for immigrants, eliminating borders."

"It dreams of a world where all humans are watching out for each other," reads the release, which teased "more surprises" for later this year.

"La Bas(e)" marks the group's first original music drop since releasing Jei Beibi in 2017. The album featured tracks such as "1-2-3," "Futuro," and "Que No." Since then, the group - comprising  Rubén Albarrán, Emmanuel del Real, Joselo Rangel, and Enrique Rangel - debuted a second MTV Unplugged album, a mixtape featuring hits, and a remix of their standout "Eres" with Sindicato del Ritmo.

The "Ingrata" group is set to join fellow Rock en Español legends Caifanes for a joint tour across the United States starting May 29 in Kennewick, Washington. The trek will see the two groups stop at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl, El Paso's County Coliseum, Dallas' Dos Equis Pavillion, and New York's SummerStage. The group will wrap up their run of shows in Indiana on June 30.

Rolling Stone recently ranked Café Tacvba's Ré - released in 1994 - as the No. 1 Best Latin-American Rock Album of All Time. That iconic record featured songs such as "La Ingrata," "Esa Noche," and "Las Flores."
