Red Arrows top bill at Cleethorpes Armed Forces Day
The Red Arrows will perform during a weekend of events in Cleethorpes
Cleethorpes Armed Forces Weekend will feature a performance by the Red Arrows to mark their 60th anniversary.
The free event, which will also commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, will run from 28 to 30 June.
The Red Arrows will top the bill on 29 June – Armed Forces Day – when there will also be a flypast by RAF Typhoons.
A community carnival, performances from dance groups, bands and a firework display will be among other weekend highlights.
Alex Baxter, managing director of the armed forces major events team, said it was the "biggest free event on the east coast", and held to thank armed forces personnel past and present.
"We are a small group of volunteers and it takes almost a year of planning," he said. "But it’s always a fabulous weekend."
Military bands in Cleethorpes 2023 Armed Forces parade
Carnivals and parades will take place along the High Street and Alexandra Road on the evening of 28 June.
The following day, there will be a parade with military bands, members of the armed forces, veterans and cadets. This will begin on Grant Street before moving into Alexandra Road.
The Red Arrows display will be followed by an evening sunset ceremony with the Sea Cadet Band, before the Union flag is lowered at the Remembrance Gate. There will also be a firework display near Ross Castle.
D-Day displays
Displays to commemorate the D-Day landings will be staged at the boating lake paddock on 29 and 30 June.
The event will conclude on 30 June with displays by RAF Tutor and Typhoon planes.
Live music will be staged in Alexandra Road throughout the weekend and a big wheel will return to the leisure centre car park.
