Oleksandr Usyk achieved a historic victory over Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia, becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. However, his reign with all four belts will be short-lived and he faces a lengthy suspension.
Due to a contracted rematch with Fury and the IBF's strict rules regarding mandatory challengers, Usyk will be stripped of the IBF title.
The IBF title will then be contested between Filip Hrgovic and Daniel Dubois in June. The winner of that bout wil likelyl face Anthony Joshua in September, setting up a potential unification fight with the winner of the Usyk-Fury rematch.
Usyk's focus remains on the rematch with Fury, and he seems unfazed by the impending loss of the IBF title. After a long and arduous training camp, Usyk is ready to solidify his position as the top heavyweight in the world with another victory over Fury.

Why Oleksandr Usyk Is Being Stripped Of His World Title
Usyk Has Four Mandatory Obligations
The IBF has a reputation for being strict with its mandatory challengers, despite delaying such fights in recent years. Filip Hrgovic had a lengthy wait to secure a bout for the mandatory position, ultimately earning it by defeating Zhilei Zhang in 2022.
The last time the IBF heavyweight title was defended against a mandatory challenger was in 2020, when Anthony Joshua successfully retained his IBF, WBO, and WBA belts against Kubrat Pulev.
Due to the delay of Usyk vs Fury after the later suffered a cut to his eye in training, the IBF grew impatient with it’s mandatory obligation. With no chance of Usyk being able to defend the belt, it will become vacant within weeks of his victory.
