Peter Dutton’s plan to slash migration is a ‘good move’
MacroBusiness Co-founder Leith van Onselen discusses Opposition leader Peter Dutton’s pledge to slash migration rates if elected.
“I think it’s actually a good move,” Mr Onselen told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio.
“Peter Dutton said he’s going to reduce the number of permanent migrants from 185,000 planned for this financial year to 140,000 for two years, 150,000, year three and 160,000, year four.

“It definitely is a big improvement, but immigration is still going to remain historically high under Peter Dutton, but it is a much much bigger improvement versus the status quo.”
