Victoria Mary Clarke thanks Springsteen for 'beautiful' tribute to Shane at gig
Shane MacGowan's widow Victoria Mary Clarke has thanked Bruce Springsteen for his 'beautiful' tribute to her late husband during his gig in Cork on Thursday.
Victoria Mary posted a backstage snap showing herself with an arm wrapped around Bruce Springsteen as she reminisced on the 'absolutely incredible' night.

The American rockstar closed his Páirc Uí Chaoimh gig with an emotional rendition of The Pogues classic hit A Rainy Night in Soho.

Victoria took to X to thank Bruce, who is a close friend of the couple, for the ode to Shane, saying: 'Thank you for an absolutely incredible gig Bruce Springsteen and the most beautiful version of Shane MacGowan's Rainy Night in Soho!'
This is Bruce's second time performing the song on the Irish leg of his tour after he opened his Nowlan Park performance in Kilkenny with the song.
The song, which was released in 1986 by the Pogues, left many in the crowd feeling emotional with videos circulated online being met with praise for both Bruce and the late Shane.
Nick Cave also performed the song at Shane's funeral last December in Nenagh.
Bruce spent time with the Pogues frontman and Victoria Mary in Dublin before his death. Speaking fondly of the time, the New Jersey native said Shane 'was very ill, but still beautifully present in his heart and spirit' in a post to Instagram.

'Shane was one of my all-time favourite writers,' the Born in the USA star carried on, 'the passion and deep intensity of his music and lyrics is unmatched by all but the very best in the rock and roll canon.'

The hitmaker is set to play his final show in the country this Sunday in Croke Park.
