Celine Dion admits 'it was a lot' as she recalls Taylor Swift Grammy presentation
Celine Dion admits she was 'very, very nervous' to present Taylor Swift with Grammy Award
Celine Dion has confessed to being "very, very nervous" about presenting the Album of the Year award to Taylor Swift at the Grammys.
Despite grappling with the symptoms of her Stiff Person Syndrome which includes muscle stiffness and painful spasms, the 56 year old legend felt "honoured" to present the prestigious accolade to the 34 year old pop sensation for her 'Midnights' album.
Yet, Celine admitted her concerns about handling the event given her health challenges. Chatting to People, Celine said: "It was an honour for me that they thought of me to present to Taylor Swift.
"It was [her] fourth [time] winning this award, which is exceptional. It was going to be my first time [back at the Grammys], and I didn't want to feel wobbly. I was going to be very, very nervous and happy at the same time. The applause... am I going to have a shock by seeing [the audience]? I didn't want anything bad to happen. Now I have heels and a dress that has a big opening on the leg, and I'm not sure if my legs are ready at that time. It was a lot."
However, when she stepped onto the stage and received a standing ovation, the 'My Heart Will Go On' singer realised how much she had missed performing and yearned to remain in the limelight, her condition notwithstanding. Reflecting on the love she received, Celine added: "When I felt that love, I had no doubt that [this is what] I miss and what I want. To see that I'm still in it and that they allowed me to be there... I enjoyed every moment."
