George Strait announced during his concert that more than 110K people were there. That would make it the biggest concert in U.S. history.
It would also be the single biggest event ever held at Kyle Field.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — George Strait, along with two opening acts, packed ‘em into Kyle Field in College Station Saturday in what became a record-breaking performance.
During the show, Strait announced that more than 110,905 people were in attendance, which would make it the most-attended ticketed concert ever in the United States, topping a Grateful Dead show in New Jersey in 1977 that drew more than 107,000, according to Billboard and Audacy.
Kyle Field’s seating capacity is 102,733, but for the concert, there was floor seating added and standing room only.
Catie Offerman, who is from New Braunfels, was the first act Saturday night, followed by Conroe native Parker McCollum. Strait took the stage at around 9:15 p.m. and played until well after 11 p.m., including an encore.
The show in College Station was Strait’s only show in Texas on his current tour. It was also the first-ever concert at Kyle Field.

Saturday night's total would also eclipse the biggest event ever held in Kyle Field. According to the university, an Ole-Miss vs. Texas A&M football game in October of 2014 had 110,633 in attendance.
And for Kyle Field, it was its second straight weekend for hosting a major non-football event. Last weekend, Mexico and Brazil faced off on the Kyle Field turf.
