Scotty McCreery Calls His Album 'Rise & Fall' His "Favorite Project" He's Ever Done | ACM Awards 2024
We're here with Scotty McCreary. How's it going tonight? So good. How are you? I'm great. We're just saying, you sounded amazing. You performed last night. Why is that such a good kickoff to an award show for you to get some adrenaline out? Yeah, well, that's exactly right. You know, you come here, you got all the pent up energy and the crowd was great. You know, I think everybody's ready for the ACMS are ready to celebrate country music and I'm glad we got to be a part of that. How did it feel playing some new music and how were the fans responding to that? Yeah, they were vibing. I was vibing it. It felt good out there. So I'm so pumped for this new music. The Rise and Fall album is my favorite project I've ever done, so hopefully, hopefully people are enjoying it. If you had to boil it down, looking back, what makes it a favorite for you? It's just me, you know. I feel like we're country music's that I'm free to do what I want to do, which is like the traditional style of country music. And it's it's what I feel like I do well. So we wrote it from the heart and there's some of my favorite songs as a songwriter that I've ever written. So do you feel like because of that did it pour out of you more easily than any other project or was the process a bit the same? No, I think it felt, yeah, a little more easy. And and we we didn't, you know, go to Nashville and ride at 11:00 we we went on a Riders retreat in the mountains of North Carolina. And we just had fun. So I feel like that comes through in the songs. One of the things we were just whispering about was your love of cigars. Were there any cigars smoking going on And during those writing retreats, I think every song we wrote I was probably having a cigar while I was writing it. So I do love AI, do love a nice stogie. So if you indulge while you're writing, how do you celebrate once the process is done and the album is out? Yeah. Well there's everyday cigars and then there's your celebratory cigars. You know, so kind of like fine whiskeys or your you know, whiskey ginger. So yeah, we're we're celebrating for sure with Cab just going #1 and and the album coming out, we're we're we're definitely celebrating as you should. So once you get into that room tonight, obviously it's a whole celebration. Who are you most excited to either run into or watch perform? Yeah, I think I'm well. Nate Smith and Avril Lavigne is a their performer. I know my wife is pumped as the Avrils. So right. All of us. All of us. So that'll be cool. And then Reba being back up there is going to be awesome. So I can't wait. Thank you so much for stopping by and congratulations on everything. Thank you very much.
