49ers Coach Kyle Shanahan's New Look Goes Viral in Picture From Christian McCaffrey's Wedding

San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan tried out a new look at Christian McCaffrey's wedding.

A viral image from the running back's wedding to model Olivia Culpo showed Shanahan sporting new facial hair. Wearing a dark tuxedo with sunglasses and his hair slicked back, Shanahan sported a mustache that was a change from his normally clean-shaven or bearded looks.

A picture of Shanahan posted on X by NFL reporter Ari Meirov attracted some viral attention, with fans sharing comments on the new look for the 49ers coach.

"Trying to disguise himself after two Super Bowl loses to the chiefs," one fan joked.

Another compared him to an "undercover CIA agent" at a party.

Before attending McCaffrey's wedding on Saturday, Shanahan opened up about the running back's role and revealed that he would see a lighter workload in the coming season.

McCaffrey led the NFL with 339 touches last season, also leading in 2019 with 403 touches. He has amassed a total of 1,806 touches over the course of his seven NFL seasons, racking up 10,505 total yards from scrimmage but also plenty of wear and tear.

Shanahan said the team will do more to "protect" the running back in the coming year.

“We have guys that can run the ball,” Shanahan told reporters this week, via SB Nation. “We have to protect Christian from himself. He doesn’t like to ever come out, no matter what the situation is. And I do think that’s something we could protect him with more.”
