Perth weather: City shivers through chilly morning as rest of Australia faces similar cold spell
Perth is well and truly into the depths of winter, with the mercury dropping to just 3.6C in the city at 7am.
Jandakot reached a low of 2.9C, with the Swan Valley facing temps of 4.2C to start the day, and Perth Airport recording 5.2C by 7.30am.
Those waking up on Rottnest Island faced an ostensibly more bearable 11.4C, though the wind factor in excess of 20km/h may feel a little chiller than what the thermometer suggests.

Despite the cold front blanketing Perth, there’s an upside in the clear blue skies which are expected to produce a top of 19C.
The continued cold comes as Perth experienced its freshest morning of the year on June 24 when 2.4C was recorded.
West Australians were not alone in demisting their car windows on Wednesday morning, with Melbourne plummeting to its coldest day of the year with temperatures nearing 0C recorded.
South Australians also experienced a cold spell, with residents waking up to a cool 0.9C.
