Hawthorn captain James Sicily could play in Saturday's big AFL match against Geelong despite his second shoulder dislocation this season.

But GWS have lost vice-captain Josh Kelly for Saturday's must-win home game against Carlton with another calf injury.

The Giants revealed late on Tuesday Kelly will be out of action for four to five weeks in another major blow.

Sicily will most likely need surgery at the end of the season, but scans on Monday have given the Hawks heart he can return quickly from his latest injury.

The All-Australian backman had a light training run on Tuesday and will need to pass a fitness test on Thursday to play in the GMHBA Stadium clash.

After starting the season with five-straight losses, the Hawks are on a roll and only half a game outside the top eight.

But Sicily, one of Hawthorn's most important players, gave them a major scare when his right shoulder dislocated during Sunday's away win over West Coast.

He previously missed two games after disclocating the same shoulder in round nine.

Kelly, meanwhile, is sidelined for about a month after pulling up sore from their upset loss to Adelaide last weekend, which put them out of the top eight for first time this season.

Kelly hurt his left calf this time, after he also was sidelined by a right calf muscle injury mid-season.

Collingwood have also lost Beau McCreery for four to six weeks with a calf injury.

Fellow premiership players Josh Daicos and Brayden Maynard are in doubt for the Magpies' Friday night match against Essendon.

McCreery is sidelined following an injury to the soleus muscle in his calf during last weekend's loss to Gold Coast.

Daicos (corked calf) and Maynard (corked calf) were also hurt in Saturday's loss and they are being assessed, with the shorter six-day break a complication.
