Thirty injured as 'strong turbulence' forces plane to emergency land
This would have been such a terrifying ordeal for the passengers on board Air Europa flight UX45. It took off from Spain and was bound for Uruguay when it hit severe turbulence over the Atlantic. Footage taken on board shows the damage done to the cabin. Parts of the roof are falling down, chairs are bent and in some cases there is blood on the back of seats. In total, 30 passengers were injured, many of them with cuts, some with back injuries. Who needed to be stretchered off the aircraft as it made an emergency landing in Brazil? Video shows one man being helped from the overhead compartment. Babies can be heard crying in the background. Europa says that there were 30 injured and taken to hospital. We understand 7 remain there right now and they said everyone else will. Arrangements are being made for their onward journey to Uruguay. But of course, this severe turbulence comes just weeks after. The Singapore Airlines flight hit turbulence in which dozens of people were injured and a British man lost his life.
