Historic College Football Program Under Pressure This Season
On Friday, Mitch Kaiser of PFF listed five college football teams under pressure to perform well in 2024. Plenty of programs need to do well this season.
Teams like the Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers, and Nebraska Cornhuskers all had success in college football during the 1990s.
Another team that had plenty of success during that time was the Miami Hurricanes, who were featured on Kaiser's list. Bringing on former Washington State Cougars quarterback Cam Ward could do Miami a lot of favors.
"The Hurricanes have experienced recent letdowns, including two straight 3-5 conference records, but something about the 2024 team feels different. With the addition of star quarterback Cam Ward, the sky might be the limit for this offense, which also has arguably the best slot receiver in college football in Xavier Restrepo (89.0 PFF receiving grade)." Kaiser said.

Miami is coming off of its best season under Mario Cristobal. Cristobal took the Hurricanes to a bowl game and finished with a 7-6 record in 2023.
If Cristobal can take that next step and challenge for an ACC title, it could be a big move in the right direction.
Miami opens the 2024 season against the Florida Gators on Aug. 31. Kickoff will be at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
