Pelé's £960,000 beachfront mansion ransacked after his death

After the death of the Brazilian football legend, the beachfront residence valued at £960,000 was abandoned and looted by thieves. Pelé died on 29th December 2022, having battled cancer. He passed away at the age of 82.

In the last days of December 2022, Pelé said his final goodbyes after a long illness. The legendary Brazilian died at the age of 82. The former world champion lost his battle with colon cancer after two years.

At that time, voices of support and tributes flowed from around the world to Brazil in honour of one of the best players in history. Pelé is the only footballer in history to have won the World Cup thrice, in 1958, 1962, and 1970.

As emphasised by the daily "The Sun", after the death of the Brazilian football legend, the beachfront residence valued at £960,000 was abandoned and looted by thieves.

Pelé: He lived like a king

For over 40 years, Pelé's paradise was his residence located in an exclusive condominium in Guarujá, in the state of São Paulo. At this property, the football king lived out his most beautiful memories from numerous trips worldwide.

The house is located just 550 yards from the ocean at Pernambuco Beach, one of the most prestigious beaches in Brazil. Built on a plot that occupies an entire block, Pelé’s house is surrounded by a stone wall that resembles a fortress.

There was plenty of space for his countless trophies in the many apartments and rooms, a cinema, and even a professional studio where Pelé recorded his own songs.

The football king did not have to leave the house to have a good time, as his backyard featured tennis and volleyball courts, a mini football pitch, a sauna, and a large swimming pool. Unfortunately, however, everything was destroyed.

Pelé's funeral took place on Tuesday, 3rd January 2023. The legendary Brazilian, whom the IOC chose as the best athlete of the 20th century, was laid to rest in the family crypt on the ninth floor of Memorial Necrópole Ecumênica - recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's tallest vertical cemetery.
